Welcome,
It is an honor and privilege to be a candidate for the State Assembly's 108th district. I look forward to reaching out and meeting the various constituencies as my campaign moves forward.
My experience as Mayor of Cohoes for 13 years, as a business owner and as a health care professional have prepared me to represent the interests of the residents in the district. Whereas Governor Cuomo has demonstrated exemplary leadership in the short time he has been in office, there is still much to accomplish as New York State recovers from the past recessionary period. If elected, I will work to address several of the challenges we, as a community face, including:
- Revitalize our neighborhoods and business districts by attracting and retaining businesses.
- Address the imbalances statewide in education funding.
- Advocate for financial security for seniors, especially as property taxes swallow up family incomes threatening the American Dream.
- Create secure and sustainable middle class jobs.
- Provide quality housing options.
- Be an agent of change in the fragile health care environment.
- Stop the unfunded mandates that continue to drown local governments and affect taxpayers, residents and workforces.
- Reduce the senseless rules and regulations that burden businesses causing unnecessary work, extra costs and liability.
I pledge to you a common sense approach from a person who has run a government, a business and is on the ground daily assisting individuals of all ages with their health care concerns. I ask for your support and encourage constituents to become involved in my campaign. I look forward to working together to address the challenges facing our State.
Sincerely,
John T. McDonald III
